BYU transfer Kuhio Aloy has been everything the Arkansas Razorbacks have needed so far this season. As it stands, he leads the SEC in hitting with a .556 average and a 1.822 OPS in 36 at-bats.
He has also hit six home runs and racked up 26 RBI, all while getting on base at over a 60% rate.
Aloy had some heroics during the first midweek game against the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks. After a weather delay, the matchup between the two resumed. Aloy hit a walk-off home run to end the game in a seven-inning run-rule.
The two teams played again later that day. Arkansas run-ruled Louisiana-Monroe again, defeating them 15-3. Aloy homered in the game and finished with four RBI.
His home run in that game was one of five that Arkansas hit in the second matchup on Wednesday.
Head coach Dave Van Horn has possibly made the transfer addition of the college baseball season in Aloy. He spoke about him postgame this week.
“He’s been fun to watch…The last home run he hit, the pitcher made some really nice pitches but he just made one mistake and left it up.”
Aloy and the Razorbacks will be back in action this weekend for a three-game, weekend series against the Portland Pilots. The first game of this series will be Friday, Mar.7, at Baum-Walker Stadium. The first pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. EST.
