Ole Miss Baseball Bounces Back With Dominant 15-5 Win Over Clemson

ARLINGTON, Texas– On Sunday, the Ole Miss Rebels took on the Clemson Tigers to finish off their weekend at Globe Life Field to begin the 2025 season. Head coach Mike Bianco and his team took down the Tigers, 15-5.

The Rebels got the party started with a three-run home run by Ryan Moerman in the first inning to take a 3-0 lead.

More runs came for Ole Miss in the second inning. Mitchell Sanford scored on an infield ground ball and Luke Hill hit a triple to knock in another run. Judd Utermark then launched a two-run home run to make it a 7-0 game.

Clemson scored a pair of their first runs courtesy of RBIs from Dominic Listi and Josh Paino. However, Ole Miss would answer with another three-run home run. This time it came from Hill in the 4th inning. This made it a 10-2 game in favor of the Rebels.

Clemson made it a little more interesting in the bottom of the 4th inning with two more runs. Listi got his second RBI of the game and before that, Andrew Ciufo knocked in a run. This made it 10-4 as the Tigers slightly chipped into the Ole Miss lead.

Hill responded to the Tigers’ pair of runs with another home run in the sixth inning. This extended the Ole Miss lead to make it 11-4.

In the seventh inning, Clemson got a score off of a wild pitch by reliever Will McCausland.

However, Ole Miss was there to respond to it with a sacrifice fly by Luke Cheng. Hayden Federico followed that up with a RBI double. Then, Clemson reliever Dion Brown gave up two more runs on back-to-back wild pitches. This made it a 15-5 game in favor of Ole Miss.

The game would come to an end in seven innings by way of the run rule. McCausland closed out the final 3.2 innings and struck out eight batters.

Ole Miss leaves Arlington with a 2-1 record to start the season. Their next game will be Tuesday, Feb. 18, against Arkansas State at Swayze Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. C.T.
